The Hunger
–
The Hunger
North Yorkshire, 1986.
Megan and Deborah live alone on their farm in the Yorkshire Dales. What was once their home has now become their only refuge from an increasingly dangerous outside world. They have their farm, their food and each other.
But the appearance of a young boy quickly throws their fragile harmony into a dark, downward spiral. As the days grow warmer the pair begin to pull apart at the seams, and the cost of survival is chillingly laid bare.
Kitchen sink drama meets post-apocalyptic horror, The Hunger is an original play about morality and motherhood at the end of the world.
This play features very strong language, disordered eating, alcoholism, domestic abuse and cannibalism, as well as references to death, violence and suicide. -

Presenting music performances from:Claire Welles One of Liverpool’s finest underground provocateurs. Fiercely singular in her approach to music yet with a musical nous you simply can’t teach. A long history of recording music, Claire has straddled almost every musical styling yet imbues her music with a rich melodic tendency which makes her experimental pop ease into your being over time. If you let it. https://clairewelles.bandcamp.com/
Freda Wallace Sound and performance artist working with non-musical instruments to create abrasive rhythmic scores. Described as Industrial Psychadelia. The most recent work, “Brutal Ephemeral” is a work specifically about the sewing machine and the dichotomy of the brutal but delicate. The industry and the intimacy. The women’s work (traditionally) aside the mass production of industry. https://fredawallace.livejournal.com/13560.html

They Came For My Mother

They Came For My Mother
Join us for a relaxed sharing of a new play telling the story of two women trapped together in sickness and health.
Coming round and realising she’s trapped, 'B' has nowhere to go and no one to turn to but 'A', who's more animal than human. Focusing on the two women as they’re locked in a squalid bedroom with nothing but themselves, the shadows beyond the door and the same three channels on repeat, how long before they have to face themselves and each other?
This is a funny, electrically charged look at the shit women have been dealing with for eons. Powerful and raw with elements of absurdism and bouffon clown. We see women’s glorious strength and vulnerability, their power in extraordinary circumstances to overcome stifling sexual exploitation and oppression. It looks at the control of girls and women and the intersection between trauma and addiction.
We're sharing the work at this early stage as a relaxed, script in hand performance to gauge audience responses and feedback in preparation for funding bids. We appreciate your support and feedback will be very appreciated.
**Trigger Warning** The play does deal with sensitive subject matter such as Human/sex trafficking, rape, drugs and addiction.
