- The Beautiful Couch
The Beautiful Couch
he Beautiful Couch, a tribute to The Beautiful South and The Housemartins.
After sell-out gigs across the country, the Couch are pleased to return to The Kings Arms for another brilliant night celebrating two of Hull's biggest bands!
Emulating the sound of two of Hull's finest, and most popular exports, The Beautiful South and The Housemartins. The Beautiful Couch first formed in 2002, playing all over the country. 'The Couch' built up a loyal following and a huge reputation in the tribute band world. Playing venues such as Liverpool's The Cavern and the Matthew Street Festival, the KC Stadium in Hull, and they've also supported Deacon Blue and The Commitments and are now regulars every year at the worlds biggest tribute band music festival TRIBFEST.
After taking a few years off, the Couch returned for a one off gig at Hull City Hall in May 2012. Such was the demand for the band to return, they decided to grab their instruments and return to the stage, and the fans flocked to see them.
Now they're back, haven't stopped gigging and are raring to go, make sure you get your tickets early and don't miss what promises to be a great night of live music.

RED BALLOON MUSIC AND ARE WE STRANGERS NOW? PRESENTS... ALESUND 'ALL HAIL TO YOUR QUEEN' UK TOUR
Red Balloon Music and Are We Strangers Now? are proud to present the return of Bristol dreamscape pioneers Ålesund following their previously breathtaking live show with us back in October in a new venue for this show - the wonderful Kings Arms.
Bristol dreamscape pioneers Ålesund are excited to be releasing their second EP and celebrating the launch of the lead single All Hail To Your Queen with a UK and European tour.
The EP has been produced by Jake Bright with whom they also worked on their first EP Shift & Flux, which received great praise.
The band have developed their sound to merge the atmospherics with more punchy and up tempo drum beats and percussion, however their immersive sound; intricate guitar work; and soaring vocals, still underpin Ålesund's cinematic soundscapes.
Their music has been greatly received by fans and critics over the past year. After a busy time of studio work, a summer of festivals, a string of sell out shows, their first UK tour and a plays on BBC Bristol, BBC Introducing and a stream of regional radio shows they are now excited to be sharing EP number two with the world.
Flawless production, exquisite vocal range and graceful atmospherics...‘Shift & Flux’ might very well be the best song we’ve listened to this year. - Tap the Feed
There’s a film not yet made, for which Ålesund haven’t yet composed the award-winning score. But it must happen in the future... - Bristol In Stereo
Haunting cinematics, total musical immersion and a beautifully Nordic twist; that’s the tour-de-force of Bristol four-piece Ålesund... - Born Music Online

- The Three Mothers Present: The Vernal Equinox
The Three Mothers Present: The Vernal Equinox
By the power of land and sea,
By the might of moon and sun,
Hearken to Three Mother's plea,
For Spring has begun!
LIVE MUSIC / PERFORMANCE ART / HEATHEN RITUALS
Live music from:
ROSE & THE DIAMOND HAND
Rose & the Diamond Hand create atmospheric, downtempo songs with a gothic tinge. Intense bass, subdued electronica and primal beats provide a frayed canvas for Rose Niland’s expressive vocals, earning the band comparisons to Portishead, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Cocteau Twins.
THE CAPOEIRA BAND
Local group picks apart a folksy, familiar blanket and turns it into a beautiful tangle of fingerpicking, pastoralism and drone.
Noise folk from the sirius system. Hand carved tree instruments.
Featuring performance art in the Heathen Chamber from:
Purge your soul of wintery rot and join Pig Legs in a wyrd celebration, summoning Spring with eerie song, joyful dance and a straw bear.
The Heathen Chamber is another place, full of dark forces and vicious secrets. No prayers dare penetrate this frightful maw. This hidden land of unmuffled screams and broken hearts, will offer up a power so vast that its bearer might reorder the earth itself.
- Peggy Sue
Peggy Sue are London-via-Brighton indie duo Rosa Slade and Katy Young. Founded in 2007, the band have released four albums on Wichita Recordings, culminating in the critically acclaimed Choir Of Echoes, and toured with the likes of Jack White, Local Natives and First Aid Kit.
Fifth album Vices, due autumn 2019, will be their first in four years and the first release on the band’s own Souvenirs Records. Slow Fade, a lo-fi celebration of restlessness (released impatiently in 2017), was an apt first taste of the melancholy optimism that fills the ten tracks of Vices. The single and upcoming album borrow in equal parts from the perfectly constructed pop songs of the 1960s and the understated, noisey guitar experiments of 90s indie bands including The Breeders and Blur.
Peggy Sue’s front-women Rosa and Katy have spent the past four years in the great company of all-female singing group Deep Throat Choir (Bella Union), building Vices gradually all the while in studios across London with the help of producer Jimmy Robertson (Choir of Echoes) and new recruits Dan Blackett (Landshapes), Ben Gregory (GRIP TIGHT) and Euan Hinshelwood (Younghusband).
