One of Manchester’s longest running spoken word and new writing events is back at The King’s Arms, Salford on Monday 28th November!

Verbose brings a vibrant mix of spoken word and live literature from a talented bill of open mic acts and two wonderful headliners every month. Expect poetry, prose and everything in between from a real community vibe that gladly welcomes all newcomers.

ABOUT THE HEADLINERS

LUKE SAMUEL YATES

Luke Samuel Yates has published three pamphlets, was a Poetry Society Foyle Young Poet on four occasions, and was selected for the Aldeburgh Eight. His first collection, Dynamo, won the 2022 Poetry Business International Book and Pamphlet Prize, and was longlisted for the 2023 Laurel Prize. He has recent poems in magazines including Poetry Wales, The Rialto, Ambit, The Interpreter’s House, Anthropocene, and The North, and he has performed at Aldeburgh, Ledbury, Kendal Calling and on Radio 4. A lecturer in Sociology, he teaches and researches around political movements, technology, and consumption.

THOMAS D LEE

Thomas D. Lee is a Sunday Times bestselling author of historical and fantasy fiction. In 2019 he completed an MA in Creative Writing. He has now embarked upon a PhD at the same institution, specialising in queer interpretations of the Arthurian mythos. He frequently considers emulating Merlin and becoming a hermit in the woods who speaks only in riddles.

His bestselling debut novel PERILOUS TIMES was published in May 2023.

He has previously worked as a copywriter and a high-school teaching assistant.
