PRESS RELEASE: VERBOSE MONDAY 27th October 2025, KINGS ARMS SALFORD, 7.30PM

One of Manchester’s longest running spoken word events, Verbose, returns on Monday 27th October 2025 at the Kings Arms.

Verbose has a proud history of bringing together a vibrant mix of live literature from poetry, prose and everything in between. Verbose welcomes new talent to the open mic alongside established writers and performers wanting to showcase new material, giving audiences the chance to hear work that is on its way to be published or perhaps feature at festivals including Glastonbury, Edinburgh Fringe and many more.

Over the years Verbose has hosted writers who have since gone on to win local, national and international awards for their work or feature on national radio and beyond. A night that offers any audience a chance to see an incredible array of talent month in, month out.

Introducing our headliners for October

Fauzia Agbonhin

As featured in CTV, CBC, and London,ON Free press, Fauzia Agbonhin is a 24-year-old Nigerian-Canadian slam poet and author of I Never Truly Hated You. She is the local one mic stand slam champion, and has represented her home town in two national festivals and was ranked fourth place in Canada at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word Poetry 2019. She has performed for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2022 and is a recipient of the 2023 Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award from the federal government of Canada.

Peter Kalu

His poetry, often set to music, can be found on YouTube and elsewhere. His latest lyric prose collection is Act Normal (HopeRoad October 2025). One Drop, a dystopian scifi was published by Andersen Press in 2023, and short stories are in comma press, Peepal Tree and Bluemoose anthologies. He received a Society of Authors Travelling Scholarship Award in 2024 for work that is “impressively experimental, thoughtful and challenging.” You have been warned!
