Manchester’s
award-winning spoken word event – every last Monday of the month at The
King’s Arms! Verbose brings a vibrant mix of spoken word and live
literature from a talented bill of open mic acts and wonderful
headliners. Expect poetry, prose and everything in between from a real
community vibe that gladly welcomes all newcomers.

Tickets are
FREE at the point of service but donation tickets are available and

HEADLINERS

MAZ HEDGEHOG

Maz
Hedgehog is a writer, performer and editor working in the spaces between
real and unreal, poetry and theatre, self and other. Their debut
chapbook, Vivat Regina, was published in 2019 and their first solo show
Let Me Count the Ways is touring with HER Productions and Ink &
Curtain over the summer. Outside the arts, Maz dabbles in knitting,
baking and excessive swearing. Find them on twitter and instagram

ADAM FARRER

Adam Farrer is a memoirist, the
Editor of the creative nonfiction journal The Real Story and the Writer
in Residence for Peel Park, Salford. You can find his writing in
numerous publications, including Lunate, Hinterland and Test Signal, an
anthology of northern writing published by Dead Ink Books and
Bloomsbury. His memoir, Cold Fish Soup, won the NorthBound Book Award at
the 2021 Northern Writers’ Awards. He has performed his work at a
number of arts and literature festivals, including Sheffield Doc/Fest,
the Manchester Literature Festival, the Ilkley Literature Festival and
the Edinburgh International Book Festival. He has been a photo lab
technician, a kitchen porter, the voice of an automated phone system, an
illustrator, a ceramicist, a musician, a music journalist, and
currently works at the University of Salford.
